Welcome to the Vee Centre, a social club for drivers, mechanics and families for the benefit of competitors in the UK Formula Vee Championship.
The winners of this years Vee Centre Challenge awards are now known after an exciting last round. Huge congratulations go to Tim Hill for becoming the Centre Challenge Champion, Steve Glasswell for the Masters Trophy and John Hughes as the Overall Highest Grid Mover.
The Vee Centre Committee are working and listening hard to put your ideas into action so please keep them coming :-)
At the season end we would like to thank everyone for the effort they have put in to make Formula Vee such a great formula that has one of the friendliest paddocks in the UK club motor racing scene. Why not bring the family to celebrate a successful year at the Awards in November, that are to be supported by Dunlop.
There is no rest in the off-season though as there is plenty to do as we are working to make plans for 2009. Vee Views has been a great success this year so if you would like to contribute any articles (maybe of your experience of Vee during the season) or have any ideas please contact John or any of the committee.
Looking forward to seeing you at a race track soon! |

The 17th annual Vee Centre awards night brought over 70 Vee supporters, drivers and their families to celebrate the achievements of fellow competitors throughout the 2008 season. A full report is HERE (being added to as we speak) The Vee Centre committee would like to thank all who made the journey to Peterborough for their support and hope that everyone will be back for next year to support and continue the friendly atmosphere within our excellent formula. |

Sam Olivera returned to Formula Vee and dominated the whole weekend to win the SCS Vee Festival in style and never really looked like he could be beaten. Jake and Paul completed the top spots for the weekend after soem very close racing through the Heats and Semis. Danny Hands unfortunatyely did not recover from a early mistake in the Heat on Saturday which put him down the grid chasing positions. The weekend saw the debut of Ben Anderson who fantastically managed to get on the podium during the weekend, showing some promise for next year's campaign. Brands Hatch turned up some typically British weather with mostly dry conditions on the Saturday and Sunday morning (well there was a dry line) but the heavens opened during the afternoon but that did not stop the Vee's putting on a show of how racing should be up against the more advanced and expensive Formulas that were racing on the programme. The event raised the profile of six charities with £3,500 being donated via the event. Kent Air Ambulance and The Motorsport Safety Fund both receive £250 in recognition of the work they do to help our sport. The Muscualr Distrophy Campaign, Riders For Health and the Cheetah Conservation Fund all receive £500 each. Make a Wish Foundation receives £1,500 towards granting terminally ill children wishes as Sam had chosen them as his nominated charity for the weekend. Thanks go out to all the Irish Vee drivers and their support crew for making the journey over to support the event and all the UK guys too... hopefully it will be the first of many. |
